I make animation and games, mostly for a children's audience, but not exclusively. My background is in Flash animation for the web, pre-school television, app and game development.
I'm a generalist. I can develop character art concepts, build and animate animation rigs, set up production workflows, develop narratives, and mentor junior team members. I have taught 2D animation at university level.
I work with a wide range of digital 2D and 3D design and animation tools. I've worked with several game engines, the main one being Unity3D.
If you need the help of an experienced pair of eyes/hands on your project, please get in touch.
I taught 2D animation techniques using TV Paint to the 1st year, life drawing to all years, and mentored 2nd year animation projects. I loved it.
I studied for, and secured, a Master of Arts in Digital Film Making. I made short films using Flash, After Effects and 3D Studio Max. It was around this time I discovered Blender (before it went open source).
I made a lot of interactive Flash games for the DART Maths project.
I designed and animated interactive content for museums and art galleries, mostly using Flash but also Macromedia Director. What a job, I absolutely loved it.
I left school not knowing what I wanted to do in life. But I did love London, so I moved there and got a series of low status, low paid jobs. After all kinds of adventures, I bought myself an Apple computer (a Performa) and taught myself animation with Future Splash Animator. That was the start of it all.
